Getting There

  • Bus

    From downtown Yonkers, walk to the Yonkers Train Station. Once you arrive, take the Metro-North Railroad train towards Grand Central Terminal. After about 30 minutes, get off at Grand Central Terminal. From there, exit the station and find the MTA bus stop on 42nd Street. Take the M5 bus heading towards 'South Ferry' and get off at the 23rd Street stop. Walk east on 23rd Street until you reach 28 E 20th Street. The Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site will be on your right.

  • Train and Subway

    Start at the Yonkers Train Station and board the Metro-North Railroad train towards Grand Central Terminal. After approximately 30 minutes, arrive at Grand Central Terminal. From there, follow the signs to the subway and take the 6 train from Grand Central towards Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. After 5 stops, get off at 23rd Street Station. Exit the station and walk 2 blocks east to 28 E 20th Street, where the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site is located.

  • Walking

    If you are already near the Yonkers waterfront, you can take a scenic walk. Head towards the Yonkers Train Station and then continue northeast along the Hudson River waterfront park. Follow the waterfront path to the train station and then take the Metro-North train to Grand Central Terminal. From there, you can either take the MTA bus or the subway as described above to reach the site. The total walking distance to the train station is about 1 mile.
