If you are driving from Christchurch, take State Highway 73 (West Coast Road) from the city. Follow the highway for about 60 kilometers until you reach the junction with State Highway 1 at the town of Springfield. Turn left onto State Highway 1 and continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach the Great Alpine Highway intersection. Turn right onto Great Alpine Highway (State Highway 73). Lake Pearson/Moana Rua Wildlife Refuge will be approximately 20 kilometers ahead on your left side, marked by a sign.

If you prefer to travel by bus, you can take a bus from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass. Look for services provided by companies such as 'InterCity' or 'Atomic Shuttle.' The bus will take you along State Highway 73. Once you reach Arthur's Pass, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to reach Lake Pearson, as public transportation does not service the wildlife refuge directly.
