Getting There

    If you're starting from Napier, take State Highway 2 (SH2) heading northwest. After approximately 40 kilometers, turn left onto Te Haroto Road. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with State Highway 5 (SH5). Turn right onto SH5 and follow the signs for Taupo. After about 18 kilometers, turn left onto Waikare Road. Follow Waikare Road for about 17 kilometers until you reach Lake Waikareiti. There is no direct access to the lake, and you will need to park at the end of the road and walk approximately 1.5 kilometers along a walking track to get to the lake. Make sure to check if any parking fees apply.
