If you are traveling by car, start your journey on State Highway 1 (SH1) heading north from Whangarei. Continue on SH1 until you reach the junction with State Highway 12 (SH12) near Maungaturoto. Turn right onto SH12 and follow the signs towards Dargaville. Stay on SH12 for approximately 45 kilometers until you reach Waipoua Forest Trust, located at 4878 State Highway 12, Aranga. Look for the entrance on your right. There is no entry fee to access the forest.

If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Whangarei to Dargaville. The buses depart regularly from the Whangarei bus terminal. Once you arrive in Dargaville, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining 30 kilometers to Waipoua Forest Trust.
