As you approach Opononi, look for the signs directing you to State Highway 12 (SH12) and turn left onto SH12. Continue on SH12 for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the Waipoua Kauri Forest entrance. The forest is well signposted, so you should have no trouble finding it. Parking is available at the entrance, but be aware that it can fill up quickly during peak tourist season.

For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Whangarei to Opononi. Check the current schedules as they may vary. Once you arrive in Opononi, you can either take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle service to the Waipoua Kauri Forest. Ensure you confirm the availability of the shuttle service in advance, as it may not operate frequently. If you plan to return to Whangarei, be sure to check the bus schedule for your return trip.
