Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from the center of Punakaiki, head north on State Highway 6. After approximately 3 km, you will see a sign for Truman Track on your right. Turn onto Coast Road, and follow it for about 1 km until you reach the parking area at the trailhead. There is no cost for parking.

  • Public Transportation

    Unfortunately, there are limited public transportation options directly to Truman Track. However, you can take a bus from Greymouth to Punakaiki, which operates several times a day. Once in Punakaiki, you can walk to the track. From the Punakaiki visitor center, it’s about a 30-minute walk (2 km) north along State Highway 6 to reach the track entrance. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as services may vary.

  • Walking

    Starting from the Punakaiki visitor center, head north along the coast road (Coast Road) towards State Highway 6. After about 1 km, you will find the entrance to Truman Track on your right, just past the sign indicating the track. This walk offers scenic views of the coast and is a pleasant way to reach the trailhead.
