Getting There

  • Bus

    From Queenstown, head to the nearest bus stop on Camp Street. Take the 'Route 1' bus towards Frankton. The bus will take you along a scenic route and drop you off at the Frankton bus terminal. From there, transfer to the 'Route 2' bus that goes towards Arrowtown. Once on the 'Route 2' bus, ask the driver to let you know when you reach the Lake Hayes stop. The total travel time will be around 40-50 minutes.

  • Bike

    Rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Queenstown. Head out on the Frankton Track, which is a flat and scenic route along Lake Wakatipu. Follow the track for about 10 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Lake Hayes. There will be signs indicating the path to Lake Hayes. The ride should take you about 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace.

    For the adventurous, you can walk to Lake Hayes. Start from Queenstown and head towards Frankton along the lakeside path. It is approximately 12 kilometers to Lake Hayes.
