From the Queenstown city center, head to the Queenstown Bus Terminal located at 38 Camp Street. Board the 1A or 1B bus heading towards Arrowtown. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Disembark at the 'Lake Hayes' stop, which is a short walk from the reserve.

After getting off the bus at the 'Lake Hayes' stop, walk back to Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road. Turn left and walk along the road for about 10 minutes until you reach the entrance to Lake Hayes Reserve. Look for signs directing you to the reserve, which will be on your right.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Queenstown. From the Queenstown city center, cycle along the Frankton Track which leads to Lake Hayes. The ride is about 10 kilometers and will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Follow the signs to Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road, and the reserve will be on your left as you approach the area.
