Bus
From Queenstown, head to the Queenstown Bus Station located at 1 Athol Street. Look for the InterCity bus service that travels to Garston. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and will take you to Garston. Once you arrive at the Garston bus stop, you will need to walk to Welcome Rock - Meet the High Country, which is about a 30-minute walk from the bus stop.

After getting off the bus at Garston, head south on State Highway 6 for about 300 meters until you reach the intersection with Garston - Lumsden Road. Turn left onto Garston - Lumsden Road. Continue walking for approximately 4.5 kilometers until you reach the Historic Southland Ski Hut, which is the location of Welcome Rock - Meet the High Country.

Cycling
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Queenstown. Head to the Queenstown Bike Park to get a bike. Then, take the same route as the bus, cycling down State Highway 6 towards Garston. The ride is approximately 15 kilometers and will take about 1-1.5 hours. Upon reaching Garston, follow the same path as mentioned for walking to reach Welcome Rock.
