    If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards the town of Gore from your location in Southland. From Gore, take State Highway 1 south towards Balclutha. Continue on State Highway 1 for approximately 30 kilometers. After passing Balclutha, turn onto State Highway 90 towards Lumsden. Follow State Highway 90 for around 40 kilometers until you reach the town of Lumsden. In Lumsden, turn onto State Highway 6 heading towards Queenstown. Drive for about 30 kilometers until you see the sign for 'Dean Forest Conservation Area'. Turn onto Unnamed Road, and after a short drive, you will find the entrance to the Big Totara Walk.
