Car
If you are driving from Invercargill, take State Highway 1 heading north. After approximately 90 kilometers, turn onto State Highway 94 towards Te Anau. Continue for about 25 kilometers until you reach Te Anau. From Te Anau, continue on State Highway 94 towards Milford Sound for about 70 kilometers until you arrive at the Milford Track car park. From this point, you will need to park your car and proceed on foot.

To reach Mackay Falls using public transport, start by taking a bus from Invercargill to Te Anau. Several bus companies operate on this route, and the journey takes around 2.5 hours. Once in Te Anau, you can either take a shuttle service to the Milford Track car park or join a guided tour that includes transport. The shuttle service typically costs around NZD 30-50 per person, and you should book in advance during peak tourist seasons.
