Car
From Milford Sound, head towards the Milford Road (State Highway 94) and drive south for about 15 minutes. Look for the signs indicating the Sutherland Falls Track. The track begins at the end of the road, where there is a designated parking area. Make sure to park your vehicle there, as parking is limited.

Once you have parked your car, follow the Sutherland Falls Track which is well-marked. The track is approximately a 1.5-hour walk (one way) through beautiful forested areas and along the river. Ensure you wear sturdy footwear and carry water. The trail leads directly to the base of the Sutherland Falls, where you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the waterfall.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Te Anau to Milford Sound. Once you arrive at Milford Sound, you will still need to walk to the Sutherland Falls Track. Follow the same directions as for those arriving by car. Be aware that bus schedules may vary, so plan your trip accordingly to ensure you have enough time for the hike.
