Getting There

  • Car

    From New Plymouth, drive east on State Highway 3 towards Stratford. After approximately 40 km, take the exit toward SH43/Tokirima. Continue on SH43 for about 50 km, which will take you through some scenic countryside. Follow the signs for Whangamomona. Once you reach the Whangamomona Hotel, continue on the road for another 15 km until you see signs for Mangapurua Landing. Turn right onto Mangapurua Road, and after about 7 km, you'll arrive at the Mangapurua Landing parking area. Please note that the road can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully.

  • Public Transportation

    Take a bus from New Plymouth to Stratford, which takes about 45 minutes. From Stratford, you will need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to take you to Mangapurua Landing, as there is no direct public transport to this location. Expect the taxi fare to be around NZD 100-150 depending on the service and time. Ensure to book your taxi in advance, as it may not be readily available.
