If you are driving from Whanganui, start on State Highway 3 heading north. After approximately 10 km, take the exit towards Whanganui River Road. Continue on Whanganui River Road for about 13 km. You will see a sign for Atene Viewpoint on your right. Turn into the viewpoint parking area. The Atene Viewpoint is well marked and offers a stunning view of the Whanganui River.

Once you arrive at the Parikino stop, you will need to walk approximately 3 km along Whanganui River Road to reach the Atene Viewpoint.
