Turn left onto Egmont Road, which leads into Egmont National Park. Follow this road until you reach the Potaema Track parking area, which is well-marked. The total driving time from New Plymouth to the Potaema Track is about 30 minutes. Please note that there may be parking fees at the Egmont National Park entrance, so be prepared for this cost.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from New Plymouth to the town of Inglewood. The service is provided by the Taranaki Regional Council. Once you arrive in Inglewood, you will need to book a taxi to take you to the Egmont National Park entrance, as there is no direct public transport service to the Potaema Track. The taxi ride will take approximately 20 minutes and will cost around NZD 30-40. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
