Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by heading northwest on State Highway 1 from Hamilton towards Raglan. Continue for about 35 kilometers until you reach the intersection with State Highway 23. Turn left onto State Highway 23 and follow it for about 15 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Bridal Veil Falls, then turn left onto Kawhia Road. The falls are approximately 5 kilometers down this road. There is a parking area available near the falls, but be aware that parking may incur a small fee, usually around NZD 5.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Bridal Veil Falls via public transportation, take a bus from Hamilton to Raglan. The bus service, such as the Go Bus, typically runs several times a day. Once you arrive in Raglan, you can either take a taxi or arrange for a rideshare service to Kawhia Road. The taxi ride will be approximately 20 minutes. Ensure you check the local bus schedules ahead of time for the latest information on departure and arrival times, as they can vary.

• Walking

  If you are already in the Makomako area and prefer a more adventurous route, after parking your car at the Bridal Veil Falls parking lot, you can hike to the falls. There are well-marked walking tracks that lead to several viewing platforms. The walk is about 1.5 kilometers one way and can take around 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the trail can be steep in some sections.
