If you are starting from the Wanaka town center, head south on Ardmore Street towards the lakefront. When you reach the lake, turn right and walk along the lakefront path. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Dungarvon Street. Turn left onto Dungarvon Street and follow it until you reach a stop sign at the intersection with Ballantyne Road. Cross Ballantyne Road and continue straight onto the path that leads into the park area. Walk through the park, and you will eventually see signage directing you towards Metal Birds. Continue following the signs until you arrive at Metal Birds.

From the Wanaka town center, you can take a local bus service towards the outskirts. Board the bus at the Wanaka bus stop located on Ardmore Street. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest timings. Once you get off the bus at the nearest stop to Metal Birds, follow the pedestrian signs towards the attraction. It should be a short walk from the bus stop.
