Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Wanaka Lakefront, which is centrally located in Wanaka. Begin walking towards the water, heading south along the lake's edge. Follow the path until you reach the Wanaka Jetty, which is a prominent, long wooden structure extending into the lake. From the jetty, look for the signs indicating the Ruby Island ferry service. The ferry departs from the jetty area and will take you directly to Ruby Island. The ride is short, typically around 10-15 minutes, and provides beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Wanaka. Start at your rental location and navigate to the Wanaka Lakefront. Once there, cycle along the lakeside path heading south until you reach the Wanaka Jetty. Keep an eye out for signage indicating the ferry service to Ruby Island. Lock your bike at the designated bike rack near the jetty before boarding the ferry, which will take you to Ruby Island in approximately 10-15 minutes.

  If you are using public transport, check the local bus schedule for routes that stop near the Wanaka Lakefront. Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop, walk towards the lakefront area. From there, head to the Wanaka Jetty, which is where the ferry to Ruby Island departs.
