Getting There

• Walking

  Start your journey from the Wellington Waterfront, which is a popular area to visit. Head north along the waterfront promenade towards the city center. When you reach the intersection of Jervois Quay and Victoria Street, turn left onto Victoria Street. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Abel Smith Street. Turn right onto Abel Smith Street. Follow Abel Smith Street until you reach the intersection with Brougham Street and turn left. Continue straight until you reach the entrance to the Town Belt, a green space that leads to Te Ahumairangi Hill Lookout.

• Walking

  Once you are in the Town Belt, look for the signs directing you to the Te Ahumairangi Hill Lookout. There are several trails; the main path is well marked and will lead you through beautiful native bush. Follow the path uphill for approximately 30-40 minutes, enjoying the scenic views along the way. As you ascend, you will encounter various lookout points that offer stunning views of the Wellington city and harbor. The final stretch involves a steeper incline, but it is manageable. Keep an eye out for the signage that marks the lookout point.

• Public Transport

  If you prefer to use public transport, take a bus from the Wellington Central Bus Station. Look for the bus routes that head towards Northland, such as the number 24 or 25. Get off at the stop closest to the Northland area, and from there, you can use Google Maps or ask locals for directions to the entrance of the Town Belt. Once you reach the Town Belt, follow the same path as described above to reach the lookout.
