To get to Wellington Zoo from the city center, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the number 1 or number 3 bus heading towards Newtown. You can board these buses from stops along Lambton Quay or Courtenay Place. Stay on the bus for about 15-20 minutes until you reach the stop at 'Newtown - Daniell Street'. From there, it's a short walk to the zoo entrance, which is located at 200 Daniell Street.

If you're in the Newtown area, walking to Wellington Zoo is a pleasant option. Start at the Newtown shops on Riddiford Street. Walk along Riddiford Street heading south until you reach Daniell Street. Turn left onto Daniell Street. Continue walking for about 10-15 minutes, and you will see the entrance to Wellington Zoo on your right at 200 Daniell Street.

For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the bike-sharing services available in Wellington. Start from the city center and cycle towards Newtown. Follow the cycle paths along Cambridge Terrace and then along Riddiford Street. Once you reach Daniell Street, turn left and head towards the zoo. The ride should take around 20-30 minutes.
