If you are already in Kelburn, the Cable Car Museum is easily accessible by foot. Start at the Kelburn Park, which is a central point in the neighbourhood. Head down the path towards Upland Road. Once you reach Upland Road, turn right and walk along the road for about 10 minutes. The museum will be located at 1A Upland Road on your left. Follow the signs for the Cable Car Museum.

For those further out in Kelburn, you can take a bus to get closer to the museum. Look for bus stops along the main Kelburn road (e.g., Glenmore Street). Take the bus number 1 or 2 towards the city. Get off at the 'Upland Road' stop. From there, walk approximately 5 minutes downhill along Upland Road, and you will reach the Cable Car Museum at 1A Upland Road. Bus fares vary, but expect to pay around NZD 2.50 to NZD 4.50 depending on your starting point.

Another unique way to reach the Cable Car Museum is by taking the Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay. If you are starting from the city center, walk to the Cable Car station located on Lambton Quay. The ride to Kelburn costs approximately NZD 4.00 one-way.
