Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from Gatlinburg, TN. Head east on Parkway (US-441) for about 2.5 miles. Look for the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on your left, marked by a large sign. Once you enter the park, continue straight on Newfound Gap Road (US-441). After approximately 5 miles, you will see signs for Sugarlands Visitor Center. Continue past the visitor center and follow the signs towards Cades Cove. After about 3 miles, you will find a small parking area on the left side of the road. Park your car here as Sugarlands Rock House is a short hike from this point.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take the Gatlinburg Trolley to the Sugarlands Visitor Center. The trolley operates on a regular schedule, and you can catch it from various points in Gatlinburg. Once you arrive at the Sugarlands Visitor Center, you will need to hike to Sugarlands Rock House. Follow the signs for the nature trails, and look for the trail leading to Sugarlands Rock House. It is a moderate hike, approximately 1 mile long. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the terrain can be uneven.

• Hiking

  If you are already in the vicinity and prefer hiking, begin at the Sugarlands Visitor Center. Head to the Laurel Falls Trailhead, which is located adjacent to the visitor center. Follow the Laurel Falls Trail for about 1.3 miles until you reach the junction. Here, take the left trail toward Sugarlands Rock House. It's essential to note that this trail can be rocky and steep in places; therefore, a good pair of hiking shoes is recommended. The hike will take approximately 30-45 minutes each way.
