From the Painted Hills, head southwest on OR-19. Continue on OR-19 for approximately 29 miles. You will pass through the small town of Mitchell. The John Day Fossil Beds National Monument will be on your right at 32651 OR-19, Mitchell, OR 97750. Look for the entrance signs. There is no entrance fee for the monument.
