Getting There

  • Car

    If you are starting from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, take the Leh-Nubra Valley Road (NH 3). The distance to Diskit Gompa is approximately 120 km, and the drive will take around 4 hours. As you leave Leh, enjoy the scenic views of the mountains and valleys. You will pass through the Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, which is about 39 km from Leh. After descending from the pass, continue straight until you reach Diskit. Follow the signs for Diskit Gompa, which is located on a hilltop overlooking the village.

    From Leh, you can take a shared taxi or a bus towards Nubra Valley. Buses to Diskit depart from the main bus stand in Leh.
