If you are driving from Panama City, take the Corredor Sur highway towards the north. Follow the signs for Colón and merge onto the Pan-American Highway (Panamericana). Continue on the Panamericana for approximately 1 hour. After passing through Colón, look for signs directing you to Portobelo. Turn right onto the road leading to Portobelo and follow it until you enter the town. Once in Portobelo, follow the local signs to 'Ruinas de Portobelo, Fuerte Santiago.' There is parking available nearby.

To reach Portobelo by public transport, start from Albrook Bus Terminal in Panama City. Board a bus heading to Colón. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
