Getting There

  • Walking

    From Mount Hagen Main Market, head southeast on the main road towards the junction leading to Ialibu. Follow the road signs directing you to Ialibu. Continue walking for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the fork in the road. Take the left path towards Ialibu, which will lead you to Southern Highlands Province. Once you reach Ialibu, ask locals for directions to the Imbongue Cultural Center, which is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the center of Ialibu. The locals are friendly and typically very helpful with directions.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Mount Hagen. Head out from the center of Mount Hagen towards the Ialibu road. Follow the same route as if you were walking, heading southeast towards Ialibu. You will cover the distance more quickly on a bicycle. Keep an eye out for road signs and make sure to stop and ask locals for directions if you feel unsure. The Imbongue Cultural Center is located about 1.5 kilometers from the Ialibu center, so once you arrive in Ialibu, ask for the exact location.
