Bus
From downtown Pittsburgh, head to the bus stop at the corner of Smithfield Street and 6th Avenue. Take the Port Authority bus route 1 (which travels towards the North Side). Stay on the bus for about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop near the intersection of North Avenue and the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. From there, walk south along the trail until you reach the Water Steps.
Walking
If you are near Point State Park, start walking towards the Fort Duquesne Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the path along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The Water Steps will be located on your right side as you walk along the river. This is a scenic route that takes about 20-30 minutes on foot.
Bike
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local bike-sharing stations in downtown Pittsburgh. Start at the station located at the corner of Liberty Avenue and 6th Street. Head towards the Point State Park area and follow the bike path along the riverfront towards the North Shore. Continue on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and you will find the Water Steps along the trail. This route will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
Light Rail (T)
If you are near the T station at Station Square, take the light rail (T) towards the North Side. Get off at the Allegheny Station. Once you exit, walk towards the river and follow the trail along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The Water Steps will be a short walk away, located along the waterfront.
