Getting There

Walking
From the Machu Picchu archaeological site, begin your journey by following the main path down towards Aguas Calientes. As you exit the site, take the trail that leads you through the lush forest. Continue on this trail until you reach the town of Aguas Calientes. Once you arrive in Aguas Calientes, head towards the Plaza de Armas, the main square of the town.

From the Plaza de Armas, take the road heading towards the train station. You will want to walk along Avenida Pachacutec, which runs parallel to the river. Continue straight until you reach the bridge over the Urubamba River. Cross the bridge, and on the other side, you will see a sign indicating the trail to Cascadas Alcamayo.

After crossing the bridge, follow the trail leading uphill towards Cascadas Alcamayo. The path is well-marked and will take you through beautiful landscapes. Make sure to pay attention to the signs along the way. The hike will take approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace.
