From the main entrance of Machu Picchu, walk straight towards the Inca Trail. Follow the path leading to the upper terraces and take the stairs down towards the agricultural section. Continue past the Temple of the Sun, and then head towards the Path of the Inca. After about 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the viewpoint overlooking the Sacred Valley. From there, you can see signs directing you to Maras, which is approximately a 1.5-hour hike away. Make sure to take plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes.
