Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city which is Trujillo. Head south on the Pan-American Highway (Ruta 1) towards the town of Casma. From Casma, take the road towards Huarmey. After passing through Huarmey, continue on the coastal road until you reach the turnoff for Playa Roja. The beach is located approximately 10 km from the nearest town, so be prepared for a short drive on a rougher road. Ensure your vehicle has good ground clearance to navigate any unpaved sections.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Trujillo to Casma. The journey takes about 2-3 hours and costs around 15-20 soles. Once you arrive in Casma, look for local transport (taxis or mototaxis) that can take you closer to Playa Roja. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 30-50 soles for the ride. Expect a 20-30 minute journey to the beach from Casma.
Local Taxi
For those already in the vicinity of Playa Roja, local taxis are available for hire. If you’re near Casma or Huarmey, you can easily find a taxi that will take you directly to Playa Roja. It is advisable to ask the driver about the fare beforehand, which can range from 30-50 soles depending on your starting point. Make sure to confirm the return fare as well if you plan to stay at the beach for a while.
