Getting There

Car
To reach Humantay Lake by car from any location in the Sacred Valley, first set your GPS to the coordinates of Humantay Lake: Latitude -13.3799712, Longitude -72.5844742. Drive towards the town of Mollepata, which is about 30 kilometers from the Sacred Valley. You will take the road from Urubamba to Limatambo and then follow the signs towards Mollepata. Once in Mollepata, continue on the road towards Soraypampa, which is the starting point for the trek to Humantay Lake. There is a parking area available where you can leave your vehicle. Note that there may be a fee for parking, usually around 10-20 soles.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a bus or colectivo (shared taxi) from Urubamba or Ollantaytambo to Mollepata. The fare is typically around 10-15 soles. Once you arrive in Mollepata, you can either hire a taxi to take you directly to Soraypampa or join a local tour that includes transportation. The taxi will cost approximately 50-70 soles for the trip. At Soraypampa, you will find the trailhead for the trek to Humantay Lake, which is about a 1.5 to 2-hour hike uphill.

From Soraypampa, you will begin the trek to Humantay Lake. The trail is well-marked, and it's advisable to start early in the morning to avoid the heat of the day. The hike is about 3.5 kilometers one way and has an elevation gain of approximately 400 meters. Ensure you wear good hiking shoes, and bring water and snacks. Once you reach the lake, enjoy the stunning views and take plenty of photos!
