Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head towards the A16 motorway from your current location in Estremadura. Follow signs for Sintra, and merge onto A16. Continue on A16 for approximately 15-20 minutes. Take the exit for Sintra and follow signs for the Historic Center, which is well-marked. Once you reach Sintra, you can park your car at one of the public parking areas nearby, such as Parque de Estacionamento da Vila de Sintra. Note that parking may incur a fee, typically around €1.50 per hour.

• Public Transportation (Train)

  To reach the Historic Center of Sintra via public transportation, take a train from Estremadura to Sintra. You can catch a train from major stations like Lisbon Rossio or Cascais. The train ride from Lisbon to Sintra takes approximately 40 minutes and costs around €2.50. Once you arrive at Sintra Station, exit the station and follow the signs to the Historic Center, which is about a 15-minute walk uphill. Alternatively, you can take a local bus (number 434) from the station that will take you directly to the center for a small fee of around €3.

  If you prefer to travel by bus, check for regional bus services that connect various towns in Estremadura to Sintra. For example, from towns like Cascais or Mafra, you can find bus routes operated by Scotturb that will take you to Sintra. The journey can take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your departure point, and costs around €3. Once you arrive at the Sintra bus station, walk towards the Historic Center, which is approximately a 10-15 minute walk.
