Walking
From the center of Setúbal, head to the Setúbal train station located at Avenida 5 de Outubro. Once you reach the station, take a train to Lisbon. The trains are frequent, and the journey takes about 50 minutes. Upon arrival at Lisbon's Santa Apolónia station, exit the station and head towards the riverfront (Tejo River). From there, walk towards the Alfama district by following the signs or using a map. You can navigate through the narrow streets of Alfama, which is known for its historic buildings and charming atmosphere.
Bus
Begin your journey at the Setúbal bus terminal. Look for a bus heading to Lisbon; the bus journey takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Lisbon bus terminal (Campo Grande), transfer to the Metro. Take the Metro line (Green Line) towards Cais do Sodré and get off at the station 'Baixa-Chiado'. From there, head towards Rua da Prata and follow the signs towards Alfama. It’s about a 20-minute walk uphill through the scenic streets of Lisbon to reach Alfama.
Ferry and Walking
From Setúbal, head to the ferry terminal located near the waterfront. Take a ferry from Setúbal to Lisbon (Cais do Sodré). The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Cais do Sodré, exit the terminal and walk towards the Rua da Boavista, then follow the signs to Alfama. It is a 25-minute walk through the historic streets, where you can enjoy the views and atmosphere of Lisbon.
