Getting There

• Bus

  From Sintra, head to the Sintra train station. Once there, catch bus number 441, which heads towards Colares. The bus stop is located just outside the station. Make sure to check the schedule to avoid long wait times. Stay on the bus for about 20-25 minutes until you reach the 'Colares' stop. As you disembark, look for directional signs pointing towards the Sanctuary of Peninha. From the bus stop, it's about a 40-minute walk uphill to the sanctuary, so wear comfortable shoes and enjoy the scenic views.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk, start from the center of Sintra. Head towards the Sintra train station, then follow the signs to the Moorish Castle. From there, continue along the path that leads to the Sanctuary of Peninha. The total walking distance is approximately 8 kilometers, and it will take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. The route is steep in places, so be prepared for a good workout, but the beautiful scenery along the way makes it worthwhile.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Sintra to the Sanctuary of Peninha. This is a convenient option if you're traveling in a group or prefer not to walk. Taxis are readily available in the center of Sintra, and the journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare or ask for the meter to be used.
