Walking
If you are at the Rhode Island State House (82 Smith St, Providence, RI 02903), head southeast on Smith St towards the intersection with Benefit St. Turn left onto Benefit St. Continue walking straight for about 0.4 miles. The Providence Athenaeum will be on your left at 251 Benefit St. Look for a charming historic building with a welcoming entrance.
Walking
From Brown University (1 Prospect St, Providence, RI 02912), exit the campus and head south on Prospect St. Turn right onto Waterman St and continue until you reach Benefit St. Turn left onto Benefit St. The Providence Athenaeum will be on your right at 251 Benefit St, just a short walk of about 0.5 miles.
Public Transit
If you are at Kennedy Plaza, take the RIPTA Bus Route 1 (towards Pawtucket) and get off at the Benefit St / College St stop. From there, walk north on Benefit St for about 0.2 miles. The Providence Athenaeum will be on your left at 251 Benefit St. Make sure to check the bus schedule beforehand for the most convenient timing.

From the Providence Place Mall (100 Providence Pl, Providence, RI 02903), exit the mall and head towards the intersection with Francis St. Cross over to the other side and head east on Francis St. Turn left onto Westminster St and continue until you reach Benefit St. Turn right onto Benefit St, and the Providence Athenaeum will be about 0.3 miles ahead on your left at 251 Benefit St.
