Car
If you are traveling by car, take the main road from Kigali to Akagera National Park. The journey is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Start on the RN1 highway heading east from Kigali. Continue on RN1 until you reach the signs for Akagera National Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance on Akagera Road. Ensure that you have the entrance fee ready, which is approximately USD 40 per person for foreign visitors.

Public Transportation
For public transportation, head to Nyabugogo Bus Station in Kigali. Look for a bus heading to Kayonza or Rwamagana, which are the closest towns to Akagera National Park. The bus fare will be around RWF 1,000 to RWF 1,500. Once you arrive in Kayonza, you will need to find a taxi or moto-taxi to take you to the park entrance, which is about 30 kilometers away. Taxi fares should be negotiated but expect to pay around USD 20 to USD 30.
