If you are driving to the Akagera National Park Reception, you will need to enter the park through the main gate located on Akagera Road. From Kigali, take the N3 road towards the east for approximately 110 kilometers. Follow the signs for Akagera National Park. Upon entering the park, continue straight along the main road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the Reception area. Please note that there is an entrance fee for the park which varies depending on whether you're a Rwandan resident or a foreigner. Ensure you have cash ready for this fee.

To reach Akagera National Park Reception via public transportation from Kigali, you can take a bus from Nyabugogo bus station to Kayonza. The bus fare is approximately 1,500 Rwandan Francs. Once you arrive in Kayonza, you will need to hire a motorcycle taxi (known locally as 'moto') to take you to the park entrance, which is about 20 kilometers away.
