If you are traveling by car, start by heading east on the R33 road from the center of Battlefields. Continue on the R33 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Thornybush Private Nature Reserve. Follow the signs to the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve entrance. Once you arrive at the entrance, you may need to pay an entrance fee, which is typically around R100 per vehicle. After entering the reserve, follow the main road until you see signs for The River Lodge. The lodge is located within the reserve, so keep an eye out for further directional signs.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from the central bus station in Battlefields to Hoedspruit. Buses run regularly, and the fare is approximately R50. Upon reaching Hoedspruit, you will need to arrange for a taxi or shuttle service to Thornybush Private Nature Reserve, as public transport does not reach directly into the reserve. Taxi fares from Hoedspruit to the reserve can cost around R300. Once you arrive at the Thornybush entrance, be prepared to pay an entrance fee of about R100 per vehicle if you are using a taxi.
