Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the town of Groot Marico, which is approximately 90 km from the city of Rustenburg. From Groot Marico, take the R49 road towards the town of Zeerust. After about 40 km, you will reach the intersection with the N4 highway. Turn left onto the N4 highway in the direction of Zeerust. Continue for about 45 km until you see the sign for Madikwe Game Reserve. Turn right onto the road leading to the Wonderboom Gate entrance of the reserve. Follow the signs within the reserve to reach Last Word Madikwe, which is about 10 km from the gate. Make sure to have cash available for the entrance fee to the reserve, which is approximately R180 per vehicle.

If you are relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from major towns like Rustenburg or Zeerust to Madikwe. Companies such as Intercape and Greyhound operate services to Zeerust, where you will need to catch a local taxi or shuttle to the Madikwe Game Reserve entrance. Upon arriving at the Wonderboom Gate, you can arrange a transfer service from the gate to Last Word Madikwe. It’s advisable to pre-book this transfer with the lodge. Expect to pay around R500 for the transfer from the gate to the lodge.
