    Getting There

    Walking

    Start from the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Visitor Center. Exit the center and head northwest on SD-244 W. Continue walking on SD-244 W for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with US-16 Scenic. At this intersection, turn left onto US-16 Scenic. You will walk along a scenic route that offers views of the surrounding Black Hills. Continue on US-16 Scenic for about 2.5 miles until you reach Norbeck Overlook. Look for the designated parking area and lookout points along the way.

    Biking

    If you have access to a bike, start at the visitor center of Mount Rushmore. Head northwest on SD-244 W and continue for about 1.5 miles. When you reach the intersection with US-16 Scenic, take a left. Biking along US-16 Scenic is not only pleasant but also provides beautiful views of the Black Hills. Continue for approximately 2.5 miles, and you will arrive at Norbeck Overlook. There are bike racks available for you to secure your bike once you get there.

    Hiking

    From the Mount Rushmore Visitor Center, follow the designated hiking trails that connect to SD-244 W. After about 1.5 miles, you will reach the junction with US-16 Scenic. At this point, you can take a break and enjoy the beautiful views. Then, continue your hike by turning left onto US-16 Scenic. The hike will cover about 2.5 miles along a well-marked trail leading to Norbeck Overlook, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the area.
