If you're starting from the South Dakota State Capitol Building located at 500 E Capitol Ave, simply exit the building and head south on Capitol Ave. Continue walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach E Dakota Ave. Turn left onto E Dakota Ave and walk for another 0.2 miles. The South Dakota National Guard Museum will be on your right at 301 E Dakota Ave.

If you're near the Pierre Transit stop located at 2100 E. Dakota Ave, take the Pierre Transit bus heading towards the downtown area. Get off at the stop closest to 301 E Dakota Ave, which is about a 5-minute ride. Once you exit the bus, walk east on Dakota Ave for about 0.1 miles, and you will find the South Dakota National Guard Museum on your left.
