Travel Guide to Gwon Geum Seong Fortress

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, make your way to Seoraksan National Park. From the park entrance, follow the signs for the Seoraksan National Park Visitor Center. Once you reach the Visitor Center, park your vehicle at the designated parking area. Then, look for the trailhead that leads to Gwon Geum Seong Fortress. Follow the signs and trail markers as you hike up the mountain. The trail is approximately 2.5 kilometers and should take around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the fortress. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Gwon Geum Seong Fortress using public transportation, first take a bus from Sokcho to the Seoraksan National Park entrance. The bus ride typically takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can either take a local shuttle bus or walk to the Seoraksan National Park Visitor Center. From the Visitor Center, follow the signs to the trailhead for Gwon Geum Seong Fortress. The hike will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance for your return trip.

• Hiking

  If you are already within Seoraksan National Park and wish to hike to Gwon Geum Seong Fortress, start from the Seoraksan National Park Visitor Center. Follow the well-marked trail that leads to the fortress. The hike is approximately 2.5 kilometers and involves some elevation, so you should plan for about 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking time. Bring water and snacks for the journey, and remember to take in the beautiful scenery along the way.
