Car
If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Horton Plains National Park. Follow the main road leading out of the park towards the Nuwara Eliya – Bandarawela Road (A7). Once you reach the A7, turn right and continue for about 7 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the sign for New Zealand Farms Road on your left. Turn onto New Zealand Farms Road and proceed for approximately 2 kilometers. The Ambewela Reservoir Dam will be on your left-hand side. There is parking available near the dam.

Public Transportation
To reach Ambewela Reservoir Dam using public transportation, first, take a bus from the Horton Plains National Park entrance to Nuwara Eliya. Buses run frequently and the fare is typically around 50 LKR. Once in Nuwara Eliya, you can catch another bus heading towards Ambewela, which will take about 30 minutes and cost around 30 LKR. Inform the driver that you are going to Ambewela Reservoir Dam; they will let you off at the nearest stop. From there, it will be a short walk (about 1 kilometer) along New Zealand Farms Road to reach the dam.
