Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are already inside Horton Plains National Park, you can reach Elgin Front Fall by following the well-marked trails. From the main entrance of the park, follow the path leading towards the world's end viewpoint. After approximately 1.5 km, you will see signage directing you towards Elgin Front Fall. Continue on this trail, which will take you through beautiful landscapes. The final stretch is a slightly steep descent, so be cautious. The total walking distance from the park entrance to Elgin Front Fall is about 5 km and will take roughly 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace.

  • Car

    If you are driving to Horton Plains National Park, you will first need to reach the park entrance, which is about 32 km from Nuwara Eliya. Follow the A5 road from Nuwara Eliya towards the Horton Plains entrance. Once you reach the entrance, you will need to park your vehicle. From there, you will continue your journey on foot as mentioned above. Please note that the entrance fee for Horton Plains National Park is approximately 3,000 LKR for foreign visitors, which you will need to pay at the entrance.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Horton Plains National Park from Nuwara Eliya, you can take a bus or a tuk-tuk. Buses depart regularly from the Nuwara Eliya bus station to the Horton Plains entrance. The fare is about 100 LKR per person. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you will have to pay the entrance fee (3,000 LKR for foreign visitors) and then follow the walking trail as described above to reach Elgin Front Fall.
