Tuk-Tuk
From the city center of Kandy, head to the main road near the Kandy Lake. Look for a tuk-tuk stand or wave down a tuk-tuk. Inform the driver that you want to go to Knuckles. The driver will take you via the A26 road. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!
Public Bus
From the Kandy Bus Station, take a bus heading towards Hunnasgiriya or Kothmale. Ask the conductor to let you know when to get off for Knuckles. The bus ride will take about 1-1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the nearest stop, you may need to walk for about 15-20 minutes to reach the base of the Knuckles Mountain Range.
Walking
If you are staying near Kandy Lake, you can walk to the Kandy Bus Station and catch a bus as mentioned above. However, if you are feeling adventurous and wish to trek toward the Knuckles Mountain Range, make your way to the outskirts of Kandy and follow the trail signs. This is recommended for experienced hikers and will take several hours, so ensure you are well-prepared with water and snacks.
