Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Matara Bus Station, exit the station and head south along the main street (A2 road). Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several shops and cafes on your left and right. After approximately 15-20 minutes of walking, you will see the Matara Bodhiya on your left side, marked by its large Bodhi tree and temple complex.

    From the Matara Beach area, head north towards the main road (A2). When you reach the A2 road, turn left and walk straight for about 1.2 kilometers. Keep an eye out for local landmarks such as the clock tower on your way. After about 15 minutes of walking, you will find the Matara Bodhiya on your right side.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Matara Fort, exit the fort and head east towards the A2 road. Once you reach the A2 road, turn right and walk for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see the temple as you approach, located on your left side, set back slightly from the road.
