Getting There

  • Car

    To reach Minneriya National Park by car, start your journey from Polonnaruwa. Head north on the A11 road for approximately 20 kilometers. Follow the signs to Minneriya National Park, which will lead you to the main entrance. Ensure that you have cash on hand to pay the entrance fee, which is around LKR 3,000 for foreign tourists. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can park your vehicle and either join a guided safari or explore on foot, keeping in mind that certain areas may require a guide.

    If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Polonnaruwa to Habarana. Buses run frequently and the journey takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour, costing approximately LKR 50.
