Walking
From the center of Nuwara Eliya, head towards the Nuwara Eliya Post Office. Once you reach the post office, take the main road, which is the A5, heading east. Continue walking along this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction at the Grand Hotel. At the junction, take a left onto the A7 road. Follow the A7 road for about 2 kilometers, passing by various local shops and eateries. Look out for signs indicating Thalangama Lake. After about 1 kilometer, you will come to a sign indicating the direction to Thalangama Lake. Turn right and follow the road which will lead you directly towards the lake, approximately another 1 kilometer away.

Start at the Nuwara Eliya Bus Station, which is located near the city center. Look for a bus heading towards Colombo or Kandy, as these buses frequently pass near Thalangama Lake. Ask the conductor to notify you when you reach Hokandara. This journey will take around 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Hokandara, disembark at the nearest bus stop. From there, you may need to walk about 1 kilometer, following the local roads towards the lake.
