Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Museum, exit the museum and head towards the main road (A11). Turn left onto the A11 road and walk straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance to the Polonnaruwa Ancient City. Continue straight into the archaeological site, passing by the impressive ruins. After about 500 meters, you will see the Northern Gate (උතුරු දොරටුව) on your left. From here, the 'පුවරු ලිපිය' is located nearby the Northern Gate area.

    If you are at the Royal Palace of Polonnaruwa, exit the palace grounds and turn right. Walk along the path heading northwest for about 300 meters until you reach the A11 road. Cross the road carefully and continue straight into the ancient city. After about 700 meters, you will see the Northern Gate on your left. The 'පුවරු ලිපිය' is located close to this gate.
