The dam is located approximately 20 minutes from the park entrance, along the Thanamalvila Road. Look for the sign indicating 'Udawalawa Dam' on your right side. There is no entry fee to visit the dam itself.

To reach The Udawalawa Dam via public transportation, first take a local bus from Udawalawe National Park to the nearest bus station in Udawalawa.
